Death by Chocolate - Easter Poisonings

Pet owners are being warned to keep their Easter chocolate out of reach of their animals.

Chocolate contains a toxin, theobromine, which is toxic to animals, and especially to dogs, who can not metabolise theobromine like humans can. Dogs commonly eat large amounts of things, especially if they taste pleasant, making poisoning more likely.

If you think your dog may have eaten some chocolate, call the National Poisons Centre on 0800 764766 straight away.
