Scorpion Antivenom Being Developed

Researchers in Arizona claim that antivenom to Bark Scorpion (Centruroides sculpturatus) stings is effective, as published in a New England Journal of Medicine article.

"This study told us that the dangerous effects of bark scorpion venom can be reversed quickly with the right antivenom," the study's lead author, Dr. Leslie Boyer, medical director of the Arizona Poison and Drug Information Center, said in a release.

There are no scorpions in New Zealand, but stings are a common occurrence in Arizona. Read the full article here.
